Play School

Play schools were initiated to support working mothers. These women left the youngest with older children, which prevented those attending schools. Now REDS Bengaluru has 14 Play schools in different locations of Bengaluru and Hosur. There are 516 children admitted in all the play schools. The staff maintains the attendance, syllabus, students profile and conduct tests. Daily nutrition is provided to these children. Annual medical check-up for all offered freely by the professional trainees. They also visit the families toknow the progress of the children and to introduce REDS programs. Periodical parents’ meetings are held at the respective centers. At the end of the academic year certificates are issued to join the regular schools nearby. Day Care Center

REDS Bengaluru is running four Day Care Centers in three dissimilar places. These beneficiaries are ragpickers, domestic servants and child-laborers. Seventy nine of these working children regularly visit for recreational activities, literacy, medical aid, value-education and nutrition. The deserving children are promoted to REDS-STC Deepahalli.

Tuition Centers

REDS Bengaluru has five Tuition Centers in Bengaluru. There are 165 school going students enrolled in these centers to get progress in their studies. Experienced staff assists these students to complete their school home works. Frequent tests are conducted to encourage the students to focus on studies.

Computer center

REDS Bengaluru conducts a computer literacy program in L R Nagar. Eleven individual computer systems are available with current applications. The syllabus includes Tally ERP and internet skills. It is open to all. But the majority of them are students of nearby schools and colleges. There are two batches held every day. This is a short-term course held for a period of three months only. After the successful completion of the course, certificates are distributed.

Self Help Group

REDS Bengaluru has 15 SHG. There are 110 members assisted by a coordinator who monitors all the activities like financial transactions, book-keeping and organizing meetings. They had celebrated Women’s Day. Ms Jaquline Jayapaul and Sr Teresa, AMI lead the gatherings. They highlighted on women’s rights, the educational development of women and to save the girl-children. The SHG had organized sports activities and fellowship meal. All the members received a memorandum

MAKKALA HABBA (Children’s day)

On the 18th of November, REDS-Bengaluru had organized a whole-day program for all the beneficiaries. Ms. Sujatha Ravikumar and Fr M. Arulraj, SM anchored the program and entertained everyone. Bro. A. Arokiadoss, the Director of Program, gave a welcome address and acknowledged all the help. The program began with the lighting the oil-lamp. Bro. Augustus Surin, SM, the Chief-Managing- Trustee of the Marianist Trust and his assistants, the Marianist Community Directors in Bengaluru and the principals of the two Marianist-schools were the special invitees. Brother Augustus who was the chief-guest, delivered the key-note address. Mr.Lokesh Nayak, the councilor of Shanti Nagar Assembly and Mr M. Jayapaul, the Director of GMR- Bengaluru, were the guests of honor. They addressed the gathering and distributed gifts. The staff motivated and assisted the students to express their skills and talents. The students performed well and enjoyed the day. Thespecial invitees distributed prizes to the children. REDS recognized and thanked several individual staff for their outstanding contribution.

*Honorable MLA N.A Haris who represents Shanthinagar constituency and the Principal of the Corporation Pre-university Girls College, Austin Town permitted to use the play ground. *St John’s Medical College & Hospital Administrations permitted their personnel to assist in emergency at the program venue. *The scholastics and the aspirants of the Marianists showed their creative skill to decorate the stage and assisted in the nitty-gritty of the program. *The chairman of the Brook Field High School, Shambangi Nagar, sent eight buses to transport the participants up and down. *A few alumni of REDS STC and REDS Bengaluru joined with their friends. Staff Christmas Gathering

REDS Bengaluru, REDS Deepahalli staff team, supporting staff and SWM workers & guest were joined to celebrate Christmas. Bro. S. Victor Sahayaraj, SM., was the chief-guest. He shared the Christmas Message and distributed gifts to the staff. All helped in preparing for the program, cooked together and enjoyed the meal. The Program Director thanked everyone and wished them a prosperous New Year 2016.

Pongal Celebration

The Marianists, REDS staff team, support-staff, SWM workers, GMR staff, the Chaminade School’s teachers and the well wishers of REDS came together to celebrate Pongal. It was like a indoor-picnic. Sister Teresa explained the importance of the gathering. The program director thanked everyone for participating creatively and wished them well.
