When older boys involved in ragpicking come to REDS centers, staff members meet with them for counseling and motivation. Too old to enter the Skill Training Center, but without formal training, the boys are encouraged to attain jobs that are more respectable. MANAGEMENT
The Courier Unit has created jobs for these boys, especially those with minimal education. Srinivas and Raghavan, our current couriers, are working at REDS and studying for their Bachelor's Degrees. Both boys are doing their undergraduate course work at a local evening college. Through the unit, they receive hands on experiences in interacting with the larger society, which in turn, boosts their self-confidence and social awareness.
